| 10 May 2009 | Jenson Button won the Spanish GP this afternoon from team mate Rubens Barrichello. Barrichello took the lead but lost out after the Brawn team switched Button from a 3 stop to a 2 stop strategy, leaving Barrichello on a 3 stop. Mark Webber took 3rd place for Red Bull after a gritty performance. |
| 09 May 2009 | Jenson Button secured pole position at Catalunya this afternoon having crossed the finishing line to start his final lap with just two seconds to spare. Sebastian Vettel looked to have pole sown up until the dying seconds of the session but having to settle for second best to Button. | 09 May 2009 | Ferrari drivers Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen ended the final free practice session ahead of qualifying for tomorrow's Spanish GP at the top of the timesheets. The Ferraris usurped the Brawn GP duo of Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello who ended the session 3rd and 4th. Robert Kubica and Jarno Trulli rounded out the top 6. The McLarens of Hamilton and Kovalainen ended the session 7th and 11th with Red Bull's Webber and Vettel back in 13th and 16th. |
| 30 April 2009 | The FIA has confirmed a budget cap of £40m from 2010. There are some notable exclusions to the cap including, engine costs, drivers pay and fines and penalties. The cap will be optional. |
| 30 April 2009 | The FIA has announced that refuelling will no longer be allowed from the 2010 season, neither will tyre blankets be permitted. The FIA cited cost saving as the main driver for the refuelling ban. |
