Jack Brabham started his career in his native Australia as a dirt-car racer. He moved to Europe and enjoyed spectacular success with Cooper, taking back to back titles in 1959 and 1960. Notably his 1950 win was the first for a rear engined F1 car, and was to set a precedent still in place today. Brabham went on to build and establish his own marque, and took his 3rd title in 1966 at the age of 40. He earned the nickname 'Black Jack' as his dark stubble always gave him an unshaven appearance. Brabham cars were to win further titles for Denny Hulme and Nelson Piquet.
