Williams F1 Team retains Susie Wolff as Development driver for 2013

The Williams F1 Team has confirmed that Susie Wolff will continue in her role as Development driver for the Team in 2013. Her role is set to expand this year with an increased programme in the Team’s simulator combined with a greater level on in-car testing. Susie will be the first to get behind the wheel of the FW35 when she drives the car at Idiada next month and will do the majority of the aerodynamic testing this season. Prior to joining the Williams F1 Team she competed in the DTM Series for seven seasons and was twice nominated for the BRDC young driver of the year award. 28/01/2013

Toto Wolff leaves Williams for Mercedes

Williams and Mercedes have both confirmed the move of Executive Director Toto Wolff from Williams to Mercedes. Wolff has been appointed as Director of Motorsport at Mercedes replacing Norbert Haug. Sir Frank Williams thanked Wolff for his work at Williams and wished him success in his new 'once in a lifetime' opportunity with Mercedes although he went on to say 'make no mistake we will fight him hard on the racetrack'. The team confirmed that Sir Frank will continue to oversee the running of the company with support from other members of the Boards Executive Committee. The move comes at a difficult and extremely busy period with the first test at Jerez and new car launches rapidly approaching. It probably won't be a show stopper for Williams but it certainly won't help and will increase the workload on those picking up Wolff's responsibilities. Williams is already later than most other teams with the unveiling of its 2013 car with the FW35 scheduled to be unveiled in Barcelona on Tuesday 19th February.

Williams to reveal new car in Barcelona

The Williams Team has announced that it will unveil its 2013 challenger designated FW35 on Tuesday 19th February at the Circuit De Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain. The team has confirmed that it will be running its FW34 spec car in the season opening test at Jerez on 5th February in order to test a number of key development parts in preparation for the new cars launch two weeks later. The FW34 will be running in 2013 livery.

Williams wins MIA Award

Williams has won the prestigious Business of the Year Award at the Motorsport Industry Association (MIA) Business Excellence Awards. The awards, often described as the Oscars of the motorsport industry, took place at Birmingham’s NEC Arena last week during the annual MIA dinner. First presented in 1995, the MIA Business Excellence Awards recognise excellence at all levels within the motorsport and high performance engineering industry. It is the only awards of its kind within the industry and the judging panel consists of industry and MIA members who are invited to vote in each of the seven categories.
